Wherein George Clooney's Use Of A Fancy Peppermill Somehow Leads To Unfair Accusations Of Employing Animatronic Servants

I’m only a paragraph into this Clooney piece, and I’ve already learned he has a laser-guided, electronic pepper grinder. In the hands of a lesser actor, such an extravagant kitchen toy could erode one’s regular-guy appeal, but somehow the Cloonster still manages to come off as down-to-earth even while seasoning a bowl of chopped salad with the device’s freshly ground, beam-directed payload. One gets the feeling that even if his $250,000 Hammacher Schlemmer  RoboButler (an Ocean’s 13 wrap gift from Warner Bros. he’s always been a little embarrassed about accepting) had interrupted his dinner with the reporter, the menschy Clooney would’ve flipped the servant the keys to his electric car without missing a beat, instructing it to take the night off with a promise to clear the dirty plates without its assistance.
